Support the Children
Posted under: In 2008 we funded Support the Children in Chiangmai (Thailand) to assist in their work providing care and assistance to children significantly affected by HIV/AIDs. Support the Children is a non-governmental charity organization started in 1992, to give care to abandoned children with AIDS, provide a bright future for HIV-affected children and youths, and promote campaigning to stop HIV/AIDS transmission. The money has been spent on funds for the school lunch programs, providing school uniforms and school shoes, reimbursement for transportation to and from school.
In 2010 the doctors asked for more funding. We have decided to support them for another year, in which they need to develop a strategic plan to secure funding for their organization. The RICE fund is actively involved in helping them to think of their future and to establish a plan to ensure the children in their care are continuously supported through education. We will only consider refunding in 2011 if the organization has shown significant improvement to become more sustainable.
