RICE & Eurekahedge – Charity Auction 2012
Returns Invested in Children and Education, RICE, is thrilled to be a part of this year’s Eurekahedge Asian Hedge Fund Awards. RICE is a philanthropic organisation funded by the alternative investment industry in Asia. 100% of the donations it receives are spent on improving the lives of children in Asia – the region which has supported our businesses and success.
On the evening of the Asian Hedge Fund Awards, RICE will be holding an auction to raise money for the charity. All money raised from the auction will be passed to benefitting charities, which include: Goutte d’Eau – Damnok Toeuk, an organization in Cambodia working with children living with disabilities; Starchildren / CWS, an organization in Nepal working with children infected, and affected, by HIV/Aids and Angkor Hospital for Children, a paediatric hospital and education centre for Cambodian health workers.
We have a range of interesting items available for auction, including an evening with famed investor, Jim Rogers. RICE wishes to thank you in advance for your support.

From street beggar to talented artist – a unique painting by a Cambodian friend of RICE

SP is a 19 year old boy that suffers from a condition called Marfan syndrome which strongly affects the structure of his bones and eyes. Despite his condition, SP is a budding artist with a bright future. His works are filled with inspiration from his troubled life. Raised in Thmoobang district in the mountains close to the Thai-Cambodian border, he comes from a family of six. Due to the family’s vulnerable economic situation, he was trafficked to Thailand at the age of 11 where he worked as a street beggar.
In 2005, he was repatriated from Thailand to Poipet and a few months later to Damnok Toek, a centre for children with disabilities in Phnom Penh. Once in the centre he attended public school and also discovered a passion for drawing and painting. He is currently taking classes at an art school in Phnom Penh to further develop his already great skills.
SP has painted a special piece for RICE and Eurekahedge. We thank you in advance for your support of this young man’s talent.
