Angkor Hospital For Children
ANGKOR HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN
The Angkor Hospital for Children, which is based in Siem Reap, serves as a pediatric department for the provincial hospital, but also treats children of other provinces. Besides providing pediatric care, they also function as an education center for Cambodian health workers. The Angkor Hospital has started a Congenital Heart Disease Program. Today, the disease affects 40.000 children, yet there are very limited surgical resources. AHC has decided to focus more and has invited several volunteer surgical teams from overseas to build the capacity of the Cambodian health workers. There are still many children on waiting lists. The hospital needs infrastructure improvements to be able to do more surgeries, and the staff needs ongoing training (on congenital heart diseases and surgeries). We supported this project by funding a quarter of their total program cost.
